GREEN BAR ILST



WHEN: Friday-Sunday, March 13 - 15 2020

Check-in: Friday between 6:00 pm & 8:00 pm

Check-out: Sunday 10:00 am

WHERE: Camp Sam Hatcher, Sam Hatcher Road,Newport, NC

EVENT DETAILS: White Oak River District will offer a course of study for the Patrol method and all youth leadership positions within a Scouts BSA Troop. This course will give the young leader a start to a solid foundation as they start their journey of leading Scouts. The course will cover three modules: Troop Organization, Tools of the Trade, Leadership and Teamwork:

ELIGIBILITY: All Scouts BSA youth that are currently in a leadership position that have not attended NYLT or any Scout that wants to hold a leadership position within their Troop.

COST: $25.00 per Scout Price includes all meals and all course materials. Participants should eat prior to checking in on Friday.There will only be a light snack provided on Friday.

FOOD RESTRICTIONS: notify event director so arrangements can be made.

Required Training



Position specific classes(Cubmaster, Den leader, Committee Challenge, Scoutmaster specific, ITOLS, BALOO,etc) never expire.  If you took the course in 1950 and have proof you took it (or the comparable course) then it is still valid today.  However, when there are major curriculum changes it is recommended that you take the course again:  recommended - but not required!

 

Required Training for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters:  

     Youth Protection, Scoutmaster Specific, and Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (Scoutmaster Specific is now available on My.Scouting.org!)

Require Training for Merit Badge Counselors:

Merit Badge Counselor Orientation (now available on My.Scouting.org)

 

Required Training for Troop Committee Members:

     Youth Protection and Troop Committee Challenge (Both are available on My.Scouting.org)

 

Below is a list of courses that expire and how often they should be retaken to be valid:

 


     Youth Protection - every two years 
     National Camping School - good for five camping seasons 
     Safe Swim Defense - every two years 
     Paddle Craft Safety - every three years 
     Aquatics Supervision/Swimming and Water Rescue - every three years 
     BSA Lifeguard - every three years 
     Visitation training - every two years 
     Climbing Lead Instructor - every two years 
     Climbing Instructor - every two years 
     COPE/Climbing Inspector - every two years 
     Safety Afloat - every two years 
     Chain Saw Safety - every two years 
     Trainer's EDGE - every three years 
     Hazardous Weather - every two years 
     Physical Wellness - every two years 
     Climb On Safely - every two years 
     Trek Safely - every two years
