Wood Badge Training

Wood Badge Course S7-426-18 will be held at Camp Boddie from 26 - 28 January and 3 - 5 March 2018.

Purpose:To strengthen Scouting in our units, Districts, and Councils.  Every Scout deserves a well-trained leader.  It provides dedicated Scouters with the tools, concepts, and methods to become an effective leader.  Wood Badge provides a structured opportunity to develop and apply critical leadership skills.  Wood Badge will make your Scouting job easier.  Attendees gain an in-depth understanding of the skills of leadership.  These skills will help you become a more effective leader in Scouting, your career, your family, and your community.

Requirements:  Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America, complete the basic training requirements for your registered Scouting position, be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment, complete the annual health and medical record form.

Cost:  Prior to 1 November 2017 - $200.00 (must place a $50.00 non-refundable deposit at time of registration and balance must paid in full by 1 November 2017.  Participants who register on 1 November 2017 or later must pay the entire registration fee of $215.00 at the time of registration.

Registration: Is completed by sending the form to the Scout shop along with the deposit.

WORD Combined Scoutmaster Specific and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training

Date: 23 – 25 February 2018

Location: Octagon House

Will be conducted in conjunction with the District Camporee

Training Fee is $20 which covers insurance, handouts, course material and meals.

ECC Baloo Training

2018 National Youth Leadership Training

Location: Camp Boddie

Dates: August 3-5 &10-12, 2018

Cost: $200.00

Qualifications: Any Scout participating in this course must be at least a First Class Scout and 13 years old (but not yet 18), and a Scout that the Unit Leader feels is mature and currently filling a Unit leadership position or likely to assume a leadership position in the near future.

The Scout may only attend on the Unit Leader’s recommendation. It is important that the Scout have camping, cooking and hiking skills. There is no rank requirement for Venturers– but a recommendation is required.

So that we can do advance planning, it is very important that all reservations are sent to the East Carolina Council office with full payment by April 15, 2018.

There are only 48 seats available for this class. Anyone not fully paid by May 15, 2018 could be moved to the wait list.

This Course is open to Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturers

Required Training

Position specific classes(Cubmaster, Den leader, Committee Challenge, Scoutmaster specific, ITOLS, BALOO,etc) never expire.  If you took the course in 1950 and have proof you took it (or the comparable course) then it is still valid today.  However, when there are major curriculum changes it is recommended that you take the course again:  recommended - but not required!
